International Baccalaureate Programme Years 12 -13

In Years 12 and 13, our school offers students the opportunity to pursue their studies through two challenging International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes: the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) and the IB Career-related Programme (IB CP). Both of these programmes are highly regarded internationally for their rigorous assessments and their ability to prepare students for university and further academic pursuits.

The IB Diploma Programme is an academically focused pathway that offers a broad and balanced curriculum. It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education across multiple subject areas. Students who choose this programme engage in in-depth studies in six subject groups: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts. In addition to the subject-specific content, the programme also includes the Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component. The IB Diploma Programme encourages students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and well-rounded individuals who are prepared to excel in higher education.

On the other hand, the IB Career-related Programme (CP) offers a more vocational focus, allowing students to combine academic studies with career-related learning. This programme is designed to meet the needs and aspirations of students who have a particular career path in mind. It combines a minimum of two Diploma Programme courses with a career-related study, known as the Career-related Studies (CRS) component. The CRS component provides students with practical, real-world skills and knowledge related to their chosen career field. It may include internships, work experience, professional certifications, or industry-specific coursework. The IB Career-related Programme equips students with the academic foundation and practical skills necessary to succeed in their chosen career pathways.

Both the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme share the common goal of developing well-rounded, inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young individuals. They aim to foster intercultural understanding, respect, and a commitment to making the world a better and more peaceful place. The programmes encourage students to be open-minded, reflective, and responsible global citizens.

Throughout their studies in either programme, students are provided with a supportive and stimulating learning environment. The curriculum is designed to cater to individual needs, promote a love of learning, and help students develop strong social skills in a multicultural setting. It empowers students to interpret and navigate their roles in a rapidly changing world, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their future endeavours.

By offering these internationally recognized IB Programmes, our school provides students with a solid foundation for their academic and career journeys, ensuring they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and global perspectives to thrive in higher education and contribute positively to society.
