Kindergarten Programme

Our international kindergarten's play-based approach provides a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children aged 2–5 years. Based on the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Development Matters framework, holistic learning is achieved through a system that allows students to progress at their own pace.

Primary School Programme

Our primary school curriculum at British School Jakarta (BSJ) is designed to provide a well-rounded education based on both the English National Curriculum (ENC) for Maths and English, as well as an inquiry-based approach which covers our foundation subjects.

Secondary School Programme

Our Secondary School pathway begins with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Years 7–11, which supports students as they transition from Primary into more advanced, inquiry-based learning. Through a balanced curriculum that emphasises critical thinking, creativity, and real-world application, students build the strong academic foundations and personal skills needed for success in the senior years.

In Years 12 and 13, students are offered the opportunity to enrol into our IB Diploma Programme, perfect for preparing students interested in further academic pursuits.

Highly regarded internationally, the IB programme encourages students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and well-rounded individuals who are prepared to excel in higher education.

Our students achieve an average IB score of 35, reflecting strong outcomes and ambitious university pathways.

Expert International Teachers & Hands-On Pedagogy

Expert International Teachers & Hands-On Pedagogy

At BSJ, our teachers are internationally experienced educators who bring best practices from respected schools around the world, not simply “foreign” staff.

Through the IB framework, they guide students with an enquiry-led approach that encourages participation, curiosity, and independent thinking.

Lessons are designed around hands-on learning experiences that help students apply knowledge with confidence, building real understanding beyond memorisation.

As an independent school, BSJ is able to set its own standards for teaching, learning, and wellbeing, allowing us to build strong relationships, maintain high expectations, and inspire students to become lifelong learners.

Reunited after 23 years! We had a delightful time when one of our alumni, Arvind, visited and reminisced about his cherished memories at BSJ.

Alumni Testimonials

Our family has been part of the British School Jakarta community from Primary all the way to the IB programme, and we feel truly blessed to have been part of this school. It brings us great joy to see our children grow and thrive, supported by both parents and teachers, into young individuals prepared to face the challenges of adult life.

Mr. Aziz Sattar

Parent Testimonial

One of our son’s most treasured memories during his time at BSJ was competing in the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) games in Bangkok. The team was very successful but what made it truly memorable was the connections and friendships he made during the trip.

Mrs. Meliza Rusli

Parent Testimonial

As part of our IB diploma programme, we took part in something called CAS. We had to do 50 hours of creative stuff, 50 hours of physical stuff and 50 hours of community service. It was an incredible experience to be able to do things that are so outside the box. We were also given the opportunity to learn many life skills and connect with different organisations and NGOs.

Melissa K

Alumni Testimonial

BSJ is known for its excellent IB programme and for generally being a first-class academic institution. That, coupled with their strong sports programmes, helped both my daughters to engage with touch rugby and swimming. Through their participation in sports, my daughters made many friends across different year groups. Her coaches and teachers were also wonderfully supportive and very passionate about teaching.

Mrs. Sakamoto

Parent Testimonial

We felt at home from the beginning because people were very nice and received us in such a nice way that we felt like we were back in Colombia. We absolutely loved the academic level that Jaco saw in BSJ during his enrolment exams. We are very glad that with each passing day, we are reassured that we made the best choice by choosing BSJ.

Mr. Valencia

Parent Testimonial

I spent most of my formative years in an international private school, where I learnt and grew up a lot. I was lucky to be taught by some really amazing teachers at British School Jakarta. I was looked after by a really experienced and wonderful IB coordinator, Mr. Ian Davies. BSJ taught me to think for myself and form my own opinions. Some of the skills I have learnt still serve me well to this day in a professional setting.
